Abraham Nelson
Abraham Nelson is the Executive head of the Consumer Goods Crime Risk Initiative (CGCRI)at the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA). He is a long serving member of the South African Police Service where he worked for a period of 30 years until 2016. He held the rank of Brigadier at Crime Intelligence Head Office and was the Section Head: Multi- Dimensional Organised Crime. During his tenure at SAPS, he managed and participated in National and trans- national investigations and operations in collaboration with relevant local and foreign law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The core of the investigations and operations were focused on organized crime. As the Section Head he also travelled abroad extensively representing the SAPS on various Interpol forums.
His current role at the CGCSA is based on pro-actively preventing the occurrence of crime threats within the industry. This is achieved by doing the following: Crime incident Information management and analysis, Lobbying and facilitating cooperation with law enforcement and all other relevant stakeholders, Cross industry engagements and the developments of SOPs and sharing of best practices for the entire retail value chain.
Advocate Jacob Serepo
Started at a law firm as a legal assistant dealing with various matters i.e RAF, Civil cases, divorces e.t.c. Joined prosecution as a trainee prosecutor then District Court and Regional ourt Prosecutor respectively. State Advocate and Senior State Advocate in the Organised Crime Component since 2007. Currently a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions responsible for the Organised Crime Component dealing with organized crime cases including POCA related cases (racketeering and money laundering).
Amanda Lotheringen
Ms. Amanda Lotheringen joined the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) in 1993 and currently serves as the Senior Manager: Copyright and IP Enforcement at the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). In 1999, she assumed responsibility for implementing the Counterfeit Goods Act, No. 37 of 1997, and oversaw the declaration of the first counterfeit goods depot in South Africa. She has played a leading role in training law enforcement officials across government departments on the enforcement of IP rights.
Ms. Lotheringen was nominated as Vice-Chair at the inaugural meeting of WIPO’s Advisory Committee on Enforcement (ACE) in Geneva in 2003 and went on to chair the ACE in 2015, 2016, and again in 2024. She is a passionate advocate for SMMEs and actively champions sustainable waste management initiatives to upcycle confiscated counterfeit goods into usable products.
She is also a vocal supporter of gender equity in the IP space. In 2023, she was instrumental in launching the South African chapter of ChIPs (Chiefs in IP), a global network advancing women in intellectual property, and has participated in the first two Women in IP Symposiums. Additionally, she played an active role in the first-ever Global Women in IP Mentoring Pilot Programme, helping to build a foundation for future women leaders in the field.
In 2024, Ms. Lotheringen launched the CIPC IP Youth Awards, an initiative aimed at empowering and recognizing young South African innovators and creators.
She holds a degree in Development Economics and an Honours degree in Economics from the Rand Afrikaans University, now called UJ.
David Little
David James Little is an experienced financial services and Payments professional with a career spanning various disciplines including Strategy, Risk, Operations and Payments. David has led various business operations in both South Africa and internationally, he currently serves in the role of Group Chief Risk officer at SBV Services and is the Board Chairperson of both SBV’s African operations as well as Security Unlimited a large guarding company based in Lesotho. In addition to his formal role at SBV David is an Executive Member of the Cash in transit association of South Africa (CITASA), Customer Experience South Africa (CXSA), of Institute of Risk management Association SA (IRMSA), the Cash Management Executive forum (SA) and a Board member of the European and Emerging Markets Advisory Board member of ATMIA.
Dr Aslam Ismail

His varied interests prioritize the understanding of human behavior, customer and service psychology, managing conflict and supporting the advancement of previously disadvantaged and minority communities. Dr Graham Wright
Graham Wright is the Chief Executive of Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA), a business-driven non-profit organization committed to fostering a safe, secure, and conducive environment for business in South Africa. BACSA focuses on enhancing collaboration and anti-crime measures across the business sector and strengthening collaboration law enforcement agencies and government.
In addition, he serves as the Executive Lead for the Crime & Corruption Focal Area within the government-business partnership established by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2023. This initiative mobilizes business expertise and resources to support government-led crime-fighting and anti-corruption efforts, with BACSA acting as the primary interface between the public and private sectors on these critical issues.
Through BACSA and the broader Crime & Corruption Workstream (CCWS), Graham plays a key role in leveraging business capabilities to bolster government interventions while enhancing business preparedness and response strategies. These initiatives are designed to strengthen public-private collaboration across policy, strategic, and operational levels.
Graham has provided consulting services to various organizations, spearheaded multiple technology-based start-ups, and served on the boards of several companies. His expertise in innovation and strategic leadership continues to drive impactful change in South Africa’s fight against crime and corruption.
General Fannie Masemola
Has over 25 years as senior manager in the South African Police Service (SAPS). Currently occupies the position of National Commissioner of the South African Police Service which he occupied from 2022 to date. His experience at managerial level is across the SAPS spectrum. He served in various Divisions and Provinces within SAPS including as Deputy National Commissioner of Policing from 2010 to 2013 and again from 2016 to March 2023, wherein extensive experience was obtained from managing different formations. His core functions throughout his career at SAPS include, but is not limited to, efficient management and administration of policing, encompassing visible policing for proactive policing and crime reduction in the Country; specialised response capability to complement normal policing, and ensure Border Security; comprehensive security protection to all identified dignitaries and strategic government installations. He also serves as Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Province for 4 years and as Deputy Provincial Commissioner Operational Services of KwaZulu Natal Province for 10 years. He has also served in Gauteng and Free State Provinces at different positions. He was Divisional Commissioner of Protection and Security Services (VIP Unit) and further served as acting Divisional Commissioner of Crime Intelligence
General PF Kekana
Major General PF Kekana, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, has been in the current post since the 12th of April 2024. Before his appointment, Major General Kekana was the Station Commander at the following Police stations: Orlando, Florida, Westonaria, Sunnyside and Atteridgeville. He was then appointed as the Cluster Commander of Soweto West for three (3) years and later appointed as the District Commissioner of Westrand for six (6) years. With years of dedicated service, the Senior Officer has demonstrated unwavering integrity, strong work ethic and a passion for the law enforcement. The Senior Officer has steadily advanced in Ranks since joining the organisation in 1984. He is currently a member of the National Council for Correctional Services representing the South African Police Service (SAPS). He is the President of all the Sporting Codes of Gauteng Police. Above all, he is also the Gauteng Provincial Chairperson of SAPS Audit Steering Committee. Major General PF Kekana has since acquired a BTech Degree and a National Diploma in Policing, aswell as several management and leadership executive courses from various institutions, namely; University of Pretoria, Southern Business School, now Stadio Higher Education Institute, African Institute etc. In his personal capacity, Major General PF Kekana is married with 3 kids, a leader in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa within Jabavu Circuit, Soweto and a member of the Young Men's Guild ( Amadodana ase Wesile) within the Methodist Church.
Grant Clark
Currently serving as the Head of the Cash – In – Transit – Industry of South Africa working directly with the cash companies on promoting the saving of lives, safe transportation of cash and supporting regulation and spearheading the fight against CIT related crime.
Have served in several senior positions, most notably in the SANDF as a Senior Naval Marine Officer, Senior Manager in Local Government with the Durban Metropolitan Council and South Africa Risk Director for G4S.
Over the past fifteen years I have gained a strategic view of the South African cash landscape and consider myself to be an expert in this field.
Due to the nature of my profession, I have worked very closely with Senior Law Enforcement officials in South Africa and believe the only solution to solving Industry matters is through a collaborative approach.
CITASA is proud to work very closely with the South African Banking Industry to ensure through technology we become more efficient and deliver a more dynamic service to the South African consumers.
Jarred West
Jarred West is a partner that specialises in anti-counterfeiting and intellectual property law. He has expertise in dealing with enforcement against counterfeit goods with a specific focus on marketplace enforcement, raid procedures, customs actions, DTI, and SAPS actions.
He has also presented numerous seminars on the topic of anti-counterfeiting and brand protection to officials of the Department of Customs and Excise and members of the South African Police Service.

Johnny Moloto
Johnny Moloto is Area Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs (CORA) at BAT Sub-Saharan Africa, the largest legal tobacco manufacturer in South Africa. Moloto joined BAT in 2018, leading the external affairs team in South Africa, before being promoted to General Manager of South Africa in early 2021. He was appointed Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs for BAT’s Sub-Saharan African operations in late 2023, and currently serves on the board of the South Africa Tobacco Transformation Association (SATTA), an industry association spanning the full tobacco value chain. Moloto’s career spans several decades across government and corporate relations. He served as a deputy director for strategy, research and co-ordination in the South African Presidency and later joined the Department of International Relations & Co-operation (Dirco). Here, he led political and economic co-operation efforts in China and the US, before joining the diplomatic corps, and ultimately served as South Africa’s deputy ambassador to the US. Moloto is passionate about fostering meaningful relationships between governments, civil society and the private sector. He views these collaborative efforts as the cornerstone to addressing regulatory challenges, creating a level playing field and overcoming obstacles to South Africa’s economic prosperity. He is also a strong believer in tobacco harm reduction, believing it to be a novel, realistic way to look at tobacco control globally.
Kurt Moore
Kurt Moore is the CEO of SALBA (The South African Liquor Brand Owners’ Association), a voluntary
trade association which represents the interest of manufacturers and distributors of alcoholic
beverages in South Africa.
Kurt has obtained an LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Master’s Degree in
Labour Law at the University of Cape Town. He has spent his entire working career in the alcoholic
beverages industry in roles/functions ranging from Legal Advisor, Industrial Relations, New Business
Development and Corporate Affairs.
In his current role, he focuses on public health and fiscal policies and its regulatory impact on the
industry. The trade association also provides member support to combat illicit trade.

Lt Genl Mthombeni
Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng within the South African Police Service (SAPS) has been on the current post since the 1st of March 2024. Before his appointment, Lt Gen Mthombeni was the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing for about four (4) years. He is a distinguished and accomplished Senior Police Officer with a career spanning over three (3) decades. Since joining the organisation in 1986, Lt Gen Mthombeni’s career progression has been marked by consistent achievement and recognition, earning him a prominent position within the organisation. He is an academic who believes in self-development, having acquired several SAPS based administrative and managerial courses as well as a National Diploma in Police Administration, a National Higher Diploma in Policing and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
Lucky Kambale
Lucky Kambale is currently the Head of Market Security and Risk at Nestlé East & Southern Africa Region (ESAR), based in Johannesburg. He has a wealth of experience in this space and is committed to ensuring the safety and security of Nestlé. Lucky’s career in Nestlé commenced in 2016 when he was appointed to the role of Regional Security Manager for Equatorial Africa Region. In this role, Lucky was responsible for security management in both Greater Zambezi and Eastern Horn of Africa Clusters. Lucky has gained his many years of experience across multiple industries and organisations. These include IBM, Safaricom Limited, Nation Media Group and the Kenya Police Service, to name a few.
Lucky Ntimane
Lucky Ntimane is a Pan-Africanist, distinguished entrepreneur, an ardent advocate for the advancement of entrepreneurship and the cultivation of small enterprises.
He is the founder of National Liquor Traders, an influential advocacy consortium dedicated to the protection of the rights of liquor traders and the formulation of policy strategies aimed at reducing alcohol abuse. Furthermore, Lucky is a co-founder of the Pan African Liquor Traders Alliance (PALTA), a continental advocacy organisation headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, which serves as a prominent lobby group within the African liquor industry. Owing to his extensive influence across both the socioeconomic and entrepreneurial landscapes, Lucky serves as a special advisor to the President of the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO). He also occupies a distinguished position on the board of the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa Foundation. Academically, Lucky holds a Bachelor's degree and an Honours degree from the University of the Western Cape, in addition to a Master's degree in Retail Business Management obtained at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). He is currently engaged in doctoral (PhD) studies at CPUT, where his research specialises in Township Marketing, focusing on the economic and social intricacies of township markets.
Michael Olivier

We compile business plans so our stores can achieve set goals and targets. We understand that our retailers success is also ours and only want them to be successful, they fail we failed!!! Mossie Myburg
Mossie Myburg matriculated in Graaff-Reinet and joined the South African Police Service (SAPS) in 1965. He retired in 1998 with the rank of Brigadier, having served as the commander of the SAPS component of the Office for Serious Economic Offences (OSEO). He earned a B.Admin degree from the University of Pretoria in 1978.
Following his retirement, Mossie joined the Banking Council to address violent crimes targeting the banking sector. This initiative led to the establishment of SABRIC in 2001, which he founded. In 2004, he transitioned to the petroleum industry to tackle similar violent crime challenges affecting that sector. After two years with SAPIA, he founded PSI, where he continues to serve.
Mossie married Helen in 1978, and together they had a son and a daughter. Helen sadly passed away in 2021. Mossie remains actively involved in the petroleum industry and continues to learn from his daily engagement with PSI’s stakeholders and ongoing collaboration with the SAPS and other industry bodies.
Neo Momodu
Neo is a dynamic and accomplished Corporate Affairs, Communications, Legal & Regulatory Affairs Specialist with over 25 years’ experience in the public and private sectors, having worked for highly regulated South African-based multinational and national corporations in the Healthcare, Information Technology, Broadcasting, Print Media, Retail and Manufacturing, and Government sectors. She has held various senior positions in these diverse industries and is currently employed to champion for the sustainability and viability of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry through strong networks and relationships with multi-stakeholders requiring negotiation, collaboration, influencing and facilitation, for positive results.
A major achievement was her appointment to lead the communications team that was responsible for planning and executing the funeral of President Nelson Mandela.

Nischal Mewalall
Nischal Mewalall, the current CEO of SABRIC, brings over 22 years of experience from roles at the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and a South African bank. His work in
combating fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing is enhanced by his ability to foster effective collaboration between the public and private sectors. He has played a pivotal role in national initiatives such as
the DPCI forensic capacitation project and the Presidential Initiative on Crime and Corruption, leveraging private sector expertise to enhance law enforcement capabilities. At the forefront of digital transformation in financial crime prevention, Nischal has led projects like the S205 Digital
Subpoena Service—a first for South Africa—and pioneered the use of artificial intelligence to analyze bank statements for the DPCI. His commitment to innovative technology is matched by a passion for AI-enabled leadership and people.
Nuno Pires
Nuno Pires is a seasoned retail executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, specializing in operational excellence, risk management, and security oversight. As Head of Safety and Security at Pick n Pay, he oversees security for more than 1,900 stores and six distribution centers. His expertise spans strategic planning, crisis management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement. A recipient of multiple awards within his organization, including the CEO Recognition Award for crisis response, he is known for his innovative approach and ability to lead high-performance teams. Fluent in multiple languages, he is committed to driving sustainable business growth through cutting-edge security and operational strategies.
Shamal Ramesar
Dr. Shamal Vinesh Ramesar holds various academic degrees which include a Bachelor of Medical
Science degree with honours, a Master’s degree in Medicine and a PhD in Physiology. During his
studies, he was inducted into the Golden Key International Honors Society for academic
excellence. He served as an academic at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and then later the
University of Johannesburg. Post academia, he explored corporate interests where he joined 3M
Healthcare as their Scientific Affairs Manager. He then joined Augustine Medical (South Africa)
in the position of Chief Medical Officer and later added to this role as the Head of Operations
(Gauteng). He currently serves as the Head of Research at the Drinks Federation of South Africa.
Zinhle Tyikwe
Zinhle Tyikwe is the Chief Executive Officer of GS1 South Africa | The Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA). Prior to her appointment as CEO, Zinhle was the Executive in charge of Human Resources and Communications and has been with the GS1 SA | CGCSA since 2013. She holds two honours degrees in Human Resources Development and Industrial Psychology and Organisational Development, all from UNISA, as well as an MBA from the University of South Wales. Zinhle has more than 20 years of human resources and strategic management experience. She also currently serves on the boards of the Wholesale and Retail SETA, Steve Biko Academic Hospital and Drinks Federation of SA. She’s a mom to Wongalamasengwa and Zimkitha. She’s passionate about family, unearthing potential and development and seeing growth in people.
